About Us

Whether you are looking to add to your skills, learn how to professionally apply makeup and hair techniques on a personal level or are considering a professional career change within the hair and makeup industry - then The WOW school of hair and Makeup Art is for you.

Our courses are taught in a beautiful tranquil setting in Fleet, Hampshire with access to a professional working photographic studio, wardrobe, props and sets for portfolio work. Alternatively students can attend our studio in Streatham Hill, London,or Holland Park,London.

The courses are taught by celebrity hair and makeup artist Rachel Pring-who has over 15 years experience in Film TV Media and Theatre. All course assistants have experience, qualifications and work in the Film,TV, Theatre and Media.

The Courses

The Wow School of Hair and Makeup Art provides intense one and two day Master Class diploma courses in hair, makeup, special effects, bridal, face painting and short tutorial and taster courses. We can even tailor classes or courses to an individuals needs. All courses are kept to small numbers ensuring students get the maximum one to one training, in a relaxed professional environment. The Diploma in Hair and Makeup for Film, TV, Theatre and Media has been broken down into 13 intense modules. Each component course maybe taken within a short part-time 14 week period or longer term to suit an individuals timescales.

We are able to offer students discounts on make up, brushes and accessories as we have affiliated with some of the leading suppliers in the UK.

Alternatively you can mix and match courses so you can specialise in one particular field of makeup application and hairstyling, for example - if you are considering setting up a Bridal Hair and Makeup business you can consider taking modules W5-W6

What do they include?

  • A light lunch and refreshments are provided.
  • Course notes/handouts, make up and special effects mediums are provided.
  • Students have to provide make up wipes and brushes/hair styling products and equipment as per course specification.
  • If students dont have access to certain pieces of equipment we can loan electrical items.

Do I need previous experience?

No- not on all of the courses - you just need to be inquisitive have an open mind and be prepared to learn, laugh and enjoy - leave the rest up to us!

Theatre and Opera

She started her career with the Welsh National Opera then moved to London to start work on the prestigious National Theatres production of Wind in the Willows at The Old Vic.

From there Rachel started her long career in West End musicals.. Productions include:

Sunset Boulevard (Adelphi Theatre), Cats (New London Theatre), Les Miserables (Queens Theatre), Guy's and Dolls (Piccadilly Theatre), The Sound of Music (The Palladium), Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre), Spamalot (Palace Theatre), Wicked (Victoria Appollo), and War Horse (New London Theatre).

Film

Film credits include:

War Bride (Anna Friel), Cats the Movie, Leprechauns (Whoopi Goldberg) RK0 281 (Melanie Griffith), Confetti (Alison Steadman), AD/BC (Noel Fielding, Matt Lucas).

TV

Rachel's extensive career in television started as Denise Van Outens' personal Make up Artist on the Big Breakfast.

Other credits include:

Make up Designer on SO and V Graham Norton, where she worked with literally hundreds of celebrities, including Dustin Hoffman, Val Kilmer, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.

Silent Witness (Body 21 and Nowhere to Run) Bad Girls, The Joan Rivers Position, Family Affairs, Strutter, Russell Brands Got Issues, The Dme Edna Treatment, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (series 1and 2) Faulty Towers Re-opened, Fry and Laurie Re-united, to name but a few.

Rachel has been personal Hair and Make-up Artist to Russell Brand, Patrick Swayze, Don Johnson, Roseanne Barr, Joan Rivers, Graham Norton and Denise Van Outen for various TV appearances.

 

Teaching

Rachel has nearly 15 years teaching experience at various colleges in and around London. Many of her students have gone on to have successful careers in TV, Film and Theatre, thanks to the help and support that Rachel offers.

She now teaches exclusively for Wow School of Hair and Makeup Art where she imparts her knowledge and love for the industry to all her students.
